Women Livelihood & Empowerment
Minorities and underprivileged communities are usually male dominant where the right to earn for the family is with the male member of the family and women are not able to contribute to the family income due to lack of education and skills. This creates an alarming situation as the entire family has to suffer if the male member fails to earn for the family due to any circumstance. Therefore, considering the cultural mindsets and the region of focus, Ek Roshni has planned to setup small scale manufacturing units for garments, handicrafts etc., the skills for which shall be imparted to the targeted women under a proper training programme with financial incentives for completion of the training and later inclusion of these women in the actual produce of the goods. The goods so produced will be directly sold in the market as well as the digital medium / digital marketing / ecommerce platforms shall also be used, and revenues earned shall sustain the programme over the longer period with increasing income of the engaged women and hence contributing towards the improvement of status of women in the society as well as improvement in the living standards of the entire family.
